Par mesure de courtoisie, j'ai averti Ross Donaldson, l'éditeur en chef de WikEM de notre volonté d'importer le contenu du site:

Good evening Dr. Donaldson,

Our two organisations have exchanged a couple of emails in the past. Just to refresh your memory, we are Wikimedica, a French language initiative striving to put together an open access collaborative medical resource for clinicians of all sorts. Essentially, we share the same values and goals as WikEM except that we cater to a different language.

Wikimedica has come a very long way since its inception, but it still falls short of user expectations when it comes to content. WikEM being years ahead when it comes to it's coverage of many medical subjects and the two wikis using the exact same licence (CC-BY-SA 4.0), we figured we could import WikEM's content, translate it and then create pages on Wikimedica with the results.

As a matter of courtesy and to let you and your team know your hard work is helping others, we tought we'd get in touch and ask for you input as how you would like to get credits. As a demo, I've imported the page about the Jarisch-Herxheimer reaction. At the bottom, you will find a paragraph attributing the original content of the page to WikEM's contributors (I've diverged from the format outlined here because this is an import rather than a reference).

Here is the translation:

  • Cette article a été créé le 4 juin 2019 à partir de la page Jarisch-Herxheimer reaction (16 octobre 2016), écrite par les contributeurs de WikEM, The Global Emergency Medicine Wiki et partagée sous la licence CC-BY-SA_4.0. Le contenu original est disponible à http://www.wikem.org/wiki/Jarisch-Herxheimer reaction.

Do you find that suitable? Thank you very much to you and your team! We will get back in touch with you in the future to share technologies and see how we can both further our missions.

Voici sa réponse:

Hi Antoine,

Thank you for your email. That is very exciting! We would be very happy to have you translate our content into French and use it on your site, using the citation format you have sent. I wish you the best with your project.

Best Regards,

Ross
